The Lost Woodsmen, “Music that reflects life and Americana”

The Lost Woodsmen are Monte Schaffer “Bellows” and Jep Fator “Lone Star”, a couple of good friends, playing a variety of musical styles such as Americana, singer-songwriter, folk, bluesy bluegrass, cultural, namely Irish and Tejano. But most importantly, they’re having fun!

Tale of The Lost Woodsmen:
It was a crisp November morning when Bellows stumbled across him in the deep woods. He had an old guitar slung accross his back and said he went by the name of “Lone Star”. Turns out he was hunting for antler sheds and was a bit disoriented. Lone Star explained how he would use the antler bone for his guitar to achieve unearthly sustain. Bellows agreed to help him, knowing that this was the prime time for his pursuit. It was amazing to watch Lone Star as he unslung his guitar and used it like a divining rod, plucking deep and transient chords that would ultimately lead him to his quarry.

Suddenly Lone Star’s guitar dipped sharply and he let out a yodel. Soon they found themselves surrounded by wild and ferocious animals. It was an impressive sight to watch Bellows fend them off one by one. After they had all been vanquished, Bellows did several one-armed pull-ups, grabbed his accordion, sat down on a stump and played “Belle Maire”. A chord of instant friendship was struck.

Well, it didn’t take long to discover that they were both lost and it was going to be a long night. To pass the time, Lone Star and Bellows started trading songs and even wrote some new ones. Eventually they were able to navigate through the musical maze of the deep woods and find their way. They’ve been playing together ever since.

Food served by Roseau Lions.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the Roseau School Theater.
