Located on the western perimeter of vast, sparsely populated wildlands within Beltrami Island State Forest, Hayes Lake State Park offers visitors recreation enjoyment and access to hundreds of square miles of untamed land great scenic views. Man-made Hayes Lake meets the forest edge for spectacular shoreline timber views.

Bemis Hill Campground has two campsites and four horse campsites. All are considered “primitive,” designed to furnish only the basic needs of the camper. Campsites consist of a cleared area, fire ring, and table. In addition, vault toilets, garbage cans, and drinking water is available.
The four horse camp sites have tie rails, manure disposal, mounting areas, and a picnic shelter. Additional 15 horse trailer /truck parking is available across the road from the campground.
All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.
The campground also offers a winter sledding slope, a shelter, and access to snowmobile trails. There is good hunting and berry picking near the campground.
