Roseau, MN is centrally located to hundreds of miles of trails and with us as home-base for your snowmobile trip, you can spend one day riding to the Northwest Angle and the next 2 or 3 days hitting the groomed nearby trials. Roseau County offers 300 + miles of marked & groomed snowmobile trails, open country trails connecting to other nearby towns & State Forests as well as trails connecting to Kittson & Lake of the Woods County. Our trails are maintained by the local volunteer snowmobile club, the Roseau County Trailblazers. Here you can find any type of riding to fulfill your riding style.
SNOWMOBILE DAY TRIP IDEAS:
DAY 1: Ride to Warroad, then cross Lake of the Woods to the Northwest Angle for lunch, end your day with a stop at Lake of the Woods Brewing Company, the Northernmost Brewery in the Continental US before returning back to Roseau.
DAY 2: Ride to Lost River State Forest where you can ride the “EDA 1” trail named after the founders of snowmobiling: Edgar Hetteen, David Johnson, and Allan Hetteen. This trail is where they used the first snowmobiles in 1956 and 1957.
DAY 3: Hit the 120 + miles of groomed snowmobile trails in nearby Beltrami Island State Forest. During the winter months, no other trails are groomed except Beltrami’s snowmobile trails.
DAY 4: Impromptu trail day. Pick a spot on our snowmobile trail map (don’t have a snowmobile trail map? Call us so we can mail you one) and discover a new trail.
DAY 5: Before heading home, take your sled out for one last ride over to the Polaris Experience Center and see first hand the history behind it all.
All of our trails are accessible by riding right from town as well as routes that will take you through town.
FUN FACT: Roseau County is best knows for the land where the “sport of snowmobiling” was born and where the first Polaris snowmobiles were built in January and February of 1956. For over sixty years people across the world have been enjoying the freedom that riding a snowmobile brings to enjoying the outdoors during the winter.

The City of Roseau maintains designated routes for use of ATV’s, snowmobiles and other off-road vehicles. ATV’s are legal to drive on all County and township roads in Roseau County.
